Ohio’s largest city is packed with bars, restaurants, parks and gardens, and has a thriving sports and arts culture.

Visit Cleveland, Ohio, for world-class museums, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, passionate sporting events and the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo.

A great place to start your stay in Cleveland is at the Cleveland Plus Visitors Center. Here, you can pick up brochures, find out about events and get a little background history. Tourism has become a major source of income for the city, and the surrounding Cuyahoga County welcomes about 15 million people annually.

Museums play a big part in Cleveland’s popularity. One of the most visited is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which is downtown on the shore of Lake Erie. Check out the permanent collection of iconic rock and roll artifacts, such as Joey Ramone’s Leather Jacket and Johnny Cash’s acoustic guitar, or visit one of the temporary exhibitions. The museum is not-for-profit and aims to educate the world on the significance of rock and roll.

Next door is the Great Lakes Science Center, where you can learn about the relationship between science, technology and the environment. Art aficionados should head to the University Circle area, where the Cleveland Museum of Art houses an extensive French Impressionist collection. Families with younger children might want to visit the hands-on Children’s Museum, also at University Circle, which provides a cultural and educational resource for younger children.

Sport is a major Cleveland attraction, although the poor track record of its teams has earned it the title of “most tortured sports city”. Cheer on the Cleveland Browns football team, the Cleveland Indians baseball players, or the Cleveland Cavaliers basketball team at their home stadiums.

For outdoor fun, visit the city’s park network, which is also known as the “Emerald Necklace”. Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is situated here, and has one of the biggest collections of primates in North America.

Being a major city, Cleveland welcomes visitors all year round, and indoor types can find enough to keep them busy for days. A bus and rail system services the city, making it simple and relatively cheap to get around.
