"Royal Sonesta is always clean, modern and special. It’s an amazing hotel and worth the price for a mountain or ocean view. Beach access plus that pool?! Perfect. Kalapaki beach is a favorite beach for locals and surfers, but never too crowded. The mountain views are breathtaking. The higher the floor, the better the view! I am a local who has since moved to the mainland, but Kalapaki beach is always what feels like home to me, so I love staying here and feeling extra special being a hotel guest. I love the shower in the room. I wish the bathroom door locked. I love having a 2 queen room with a lanai with a view of beloved Kalapaki especially at sunrise AND sunset! My favorite amenity is the airport shuttle (first shuttle is at 4:45am/airport opens at 5am). I don’t know any other hotel that does this on the island?!! Maybe 1 other resort has it, IF THAT. I can return my Turo car in walking distance the night before we leave and take the airport shuttle in the morning. Perfect. "

"Our experience at the Hilton Garden Hotel was mediocre, with a pretty rough start: we arrived at night and realized immediately how the pictures representing the room and hotel on the Expedia website were not representing the reality. The Hotel and specifically our room were absolutely outdated, carpet was dumped with humidity, furniture, microwave and mini fridge were old. The room was a King Bed one with ocean view and the glass window was absolutely dirty, like it hadn't been cleaned for weeks. Before going to bed we realized that the bedsheets were stained and asked the reception to replace them. The morning after, following an inspection in daylight, we realized that there was MOLD everywhere, literally on every surface (bathroom, doors frames, nightstand lamps, etc) and requested a room change. That was the start of our vacation, pretty disappointing after paying so much for such a room. We were transferred to a room at the second floor, slightly better and again, the view was lovely but the window was really dirty to the point that my partner cleaned the exterior just enough to see through it a bit better. They finally cleaned the window after a couple of days, I guess someone else complained if how dirty windows were on that floor. Staff was nice and the hotel is located in a very convenient location, the beach is lovely too. But overall the Hilton is overpriced for the experience and we found the quality of their bedrooms as basic as a motel's. Not recommended."

"Beautiful partial ocean view with a swimmable sandy beach and chairs, large bedroom and bathroom, smaller second bathroom, fast Wi-Fi, two small balconies, large ceiling fans, a large, beautiful, fully equipped kitchen, stacked washer and dryer (very nice for drying swimsuits), friendly service, flowers and manicured grounds, a great gym, a large pool with two water slides for kids to enjoy, and three hot tubs. Perfect location next to shopping and a grocery store. Free parking. A restaurant on-site, but I recommend making reservations. My family plans to stay here again! This is the best resort on Kauai!"
