"No did not get a beach view ,although room was clean, staff are very helpful outer side badly needing painting and smartning up, no food at this hotel u have to go next door to the Carleton hotel. Fire alarm went off late thursday night but it was ok maybe a bug in the sensory thing in the rooms? Noisy people next door to me doors banging loud conversation so not much sleep had!"

Mercure Brighton Seafront Hotel
8/10 Good
"The lift was out of order on my second morning when I was leaving. I had four bags with me which in total were too heavy to take down four flights of stairs in one trip. (I'm 76 and was on my own). Surely, lift maintenance should take place after all guests leaving that day had left. Fortunately, after a short wait, a member of staff helped me with my luggage to the car park.
Room 407. The en suite bathroom was up four steep steps from the bedroom. The bathroom door had a self-closing device so in the wee small hours I had to fight with the door as I stumbled into the bathroom. Fortunately, I am not incontinent but I can visualise that "accidents" could happen when a guest is caught short. The disabled person's handle on the side of the stairs which should have helped was too short. Not sure if the steepness of the steps leading up to the bathroom is legal.
I parked my car in the hotel garage. I do not remember seeing a tariff for the car park on the hotel's website. It may have been there but it was definitely not obvious. The cost for two days' stay was unexpected. Because of the extra cost, I did not take meals in the hotel. Their loss.
On the good side, a pleasant maintenance employee helped to direct my car to the hotel garage. The young lady manager who helped me to get my luggage to the garage was also very nice. The temperature of the room was perfect and the bed was comfortable."
