Very crowded, and seaweed smell during our stay during first week of august. Could not swim in ocean due to seaweeds and the ongoing operation to clean up the beach.

This was our second time staying at Moon Palace The Grand. We stayed several years ago and absolutely loved it, which is exactly why we decided to return this year. Unfortunately, this visit just wasn’t what we remembered. The Grand is still a nice property with plenty to offer, but overall it didn’t feel as well attended to as it did during our previous stay. The food also wasn’t nearly as good as we remembered, and there were several misses when it came to requests we made throughout our stay. Another major disappointment was our Expedia VIP room upgrade benefit. Our reservation was eligible for a complimentary upgrade based on availability, and there appeared to be upgraded rooms available during our stay. However, we were not provided with the room upgrade we expected. This was particularly frustrating because the VIP upgrade benefit was one of the perks associated with booking this property through Expedia. The resort credit was disappointing as well. We travel fairly often and have received resort credits at many different hotels and resorts, so we completely understand that resort credit usually isn’t the same as having actual cash to spend dollar for dollar. However, at The Grand, the credit felt more like a marketing prop than a meaningful benefit. There were so many restrictions and limitations on how much could actually be applied toward different services that it was difficult to see much real value in it.
