"Our room was lovely with a hot tub on the terrace. However the terrace needed cleaning and although we mentioned this it didn’t happen. The shower over the bath was difficult to get in & out . Side of bath very high & water was difficult to balance. Again we mentioned this but it stayed the same. When I booked I requested a walk- in shower. I was told I’d need to upgrade& pay more. I was entitled to an upgrade but it didn’t happen. There was a problem on the first morning with breakfast - burnt toast. & overdone eggs. When we told them the hotel were most apologetic & the next day it was perfect. Also they arranged a free boat trip for us. & adjusted our bill so we felt that they had done all they could to rectify the situation . It’s a beautiful hotel & if we hadn’t had the few hiccups it would have been 5 stars all the way. The Spa was excellent. "

"Check in staff very helpful. Bathroom not as clean as it should be for a property like this, shower head covered in brown gunk, dirt under rim of toilet and glasses covered in dust. The shower nearly flooded as soon as I turned it on. The kettle was bashed and going rusty. Overall fine for a night but if staying more than one day there is no where to hang towels to dry. The breakfast was sufficient but confusing as there was no one to explain or check me off a list!! "

"A handy location in the Thames Valley close to the riverside with railway station a short walk away and right next to bus stops. Rooms designed for single people attending conferences, seminars etc so not large but they have a double bed and all l needed for a short stay. Breakfast served in bright atrium area. Good poached eggs cooked to order. Places to eat in the village but mainly gastro pubs. Happy to stay again."

"Compact room. Very clean, quiet and comfortable. Fridge with complimentary water & other drinks. Well appointed bathroom (but no toilet brush) with an excellent shower and bathroom fitments. Friendly staff. Problem with one of the evening dinners which was resolved without any problem and substuted with an excellent replacement (delicious). Well stocked bar - three cask ales. "

"Rooms are immaculate with thoughtful extras. The bathroom was perfect, great shower and quality towels. Restaurant food was excellent and breakfast was fresh with quality ingredients. Highly recommended stopover."

"Excellent location but disappointingly no more than a 3*. Room decor and furniture very tired. Whole property needs redecoration and carpets throughout. Completely empty minibar and no drinking water in the room. We were sent a message prior to check in from the hotel offering us a room upgrade but wanting to charge us extra if we accepted it. Surely if there were rooms of a better standard unoccupied would it not be a prudent move to offer those to guests paying 4* prices."
