“The setting in the mountains is beautiful, and the place has a fun, rustic atmosphere. However, there were several disappointments during our stay. The listing advertises air conditioning, but it’s important to understand that the rooms are screened in, so the AC does not cool the entire room. You can only really feel it when you’re lying in bed with the curtains closed. Also, the air blows directly onto your face, and there’s no way to adjust the airflow. I actually had to sleep with my head...

“I would definitely go again. Friendly staff and I loved that the pool was accessible at all hours.Even though you're close to town, you feel disconnected from all hustle and bustle”

“Like many eco lodges in the area, rooms are basically screened-in porchs with adjustable shutters - perfect for the setting, but very exposed. So, I get up at 2:30am for a routine bathroom visit, and let me add the (surprisingly relevant) detail that it was the quick and quiet #1 variety. Just as I was back in bed turning off the light, someone in the dark just outside my window asked 'Are you alright?'. Startled, at first I assumed this was a conversation between 2 people coincidentally on...

“Friendly staff, inviting pool, quiet area, quiet rooms…”

“Stayed two nights. Staff was incredible. Derrick is the best tour guide. Lodge even had transportation from airport and to water ferry. 10/10!”

“This is the most amazing place I've stayed at. The ENTIRE staff was terrific from begging to end. My wife had the best massage she's ever had. The food was great and the atmosphere was peaceful and quiet. If I could give more stars I would. Be ready to unplug from the world and enjoy your surroundings. So much to do and see. I will be recommending this property to everyone one I know. My wife and I were making plans to come back before we even left.”

“Copal Tree is an amazing place. Nestled on top of a hill in the heart of the rainforest Rooms are very private and they have screened balconies that place you in the heart of the rainforest. Staff are so friendly and helpful. So many activities. Did a birding class in the morning and saw keelbilled toucans and collated aracaris steps from our room. Would definitely come back for a return trip.”

“Friendly and helpful staff. Very relaxing and quiet. ”

“Authentic Jungle Experience The Art and artifacts from the area are one of a kind must see.”

“The whole place was amazing! The cabins were bare bones but clean and cute. We had a porch in the back right by the rainforest, but wished there had been comfy chairs to sit on instead of a small, hard bench. The bathrooms were clean with some interesting insect life to observe while sitting there. Showers were hot and good pressure. The Toucan Cafe up front was superb - we ate every meal there. There is comfortable indoor and outdoor seating. Fridge and coffee maker are available for guests....

“Great for camping and outdoors experience, had a nice horse ride with guild. Lady staff was pushy and difficult. Kind of a acquired taste.”
