“I liked the old world charm of Southern Cross, and the relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
The bed was comfortable, and there were some nice touches such as strawberries to put on our cereal at breakfast, home-made marmalade, and nice biscuits on the tea tray in our room. We appreciated these.”

“Liked common areas to eat and socialise which were spacious. Did not like the closure of the dedicated nearby parking when no building was taking place. The reception staff were responsive and helpful when there were any issues. Some noise from other guests around 1pm. Excellent views and free facilities eg sports. A really enjoyable stay for 50th anniversary alumni - thank you all.”
“결혼식 참석겸 숙박을 했는데 생각보다 좋은 컨디션에 잘 지내고 왔어요. 욕실은 현대적이지만 건물자체는 오래된 성이라 느낌이 묘하더라구요. 따뜻한 물도 잘 나오고 캐슬 자체내에서 할건 꽤 많았어요. 시간이 없어서 다 이용못한게 좀 아쉽더라구요. 나중에 또 와서 묵고 싶은 곳이에요. 시설은 좋은데 음식이나 기타 비용은 가격이 꽤 나가는 편이었어요.”
“Dog-friendly whether as a solo traveller with dog, or larger group. Staff at reception and others I saw very helpful, nothing was too much trouble, very friendly. Garden (not enclosed) at rear of hotel, with bin for those with dogs, or over the road at front of hotel, both had seating. If you have mobility issues, steps at front and rear of hotel, handrails present, and a lift inside hotel.

“This hotel was a great find in Torquay. 10min walk from the Harbour/ Beach although note to others it’s up a steep hill.
The spa was fantastic and even better within the price of room, you are given towels, bath robes and flip flops to use which was a lovely touch. Ladies - not only are there hair dryers but hair straighteners in the spa changing room!
We didn’t eat at the Hotel so can’t advise but the tea/coffee tray has an endless selection of herbs teas, coffee and hot chocolate.

“Room and bed are cleaned well and morning breakfast is served also good.
But ventilation is not good. Doesn't have any air conditioner so room is filled with hot air when checked in. Hotel is closed to road so that buzzing vehicles noise comes into window over night make me hard to sleep. Electric hot pot is served with stain inside so there's no way to make tea in the room.”
“The host was superb and very accommodating to our needs. We needed to stay another night and he graciously made room for us. He helped us locate restaurants, bus stops and Exeter sites. And he was a pleasant conversationalist. He always made us feel welcome.”
