"Arrived late, no one at front desk had to knock on door, lady sent her husband out he asked why I was there I obviously told him I had a reservation, after lady spoke to manager on the phone, he then walked me to my room which was hostel style and how disgusting that room was, cigarettes and tobacco littered the table, very trashy room, horrid smell. As it was 1:30am I had no choice but to stay. Soon as I woke up at 7am I left the property. I’m a solo traveler so I had the flexibility I guess...

"Hotel was extremely clean, staff was super friendly, house keeping was top tier, and location was great!"

"The hotel itself was fine. The bed was comfortable, the shower was well supplied, and the air conditioning system was effective and quiet. All the employees were friendly and helpful. I was not fond of the open floor design of the lobby with no separation between it and the restaurant. The location was the biggest minus as my car was vandalized in a nearby parking lot that had been recommended by the front desk clerk. Valeting one's car is highly recommended and that's what I did when I returned to the hotel before flying out at the end of our vacation. That was expensive but worth it. The proximity of many excellent restaurants and the Powell bookstore might compensate for others but the dirtiness and smell of the surrounding blocks was too much for me."

"We came to the Royal Sonesta last minute after a very bad experience at another hotel in town and they were perfect. The front desk was very helpful in getting our room arranged and explaining the details. The room was large and clean, very fun designs and worked great. The bed was by far the best bed I've ever slept in at a hotel in my life and made the entire stay worth it. The only thing with the room is that the doors were a little squeaky and a minor mixup with the keys when we used the valet but the hotel fixed it all and we had a wonderful stay. The breakfast is also very good even though it's not included. Overall this is a fantastic hotel and I would stay there again in a heartbeat."

"Loved the PNW feel. There is a totem pole in the lobby. There are speakers in the hallways playing bird calls. The furniture appears to be made from wooden sticks. Enjoyed the “Dances With Wolves motif “. Very nice stay! We’ll definitely stay there again when visiting my sons in Vancouver and Portland from Virginia!"
