“This is an authentic Japanese Ryokan, where you sleep on mats on the floor. We used three mats each to be comfortable. The room was spacious. The bathroom is immaculate and we loved using the onsen or hot bath. The Japanese breakfast was absolutely delicious and included a great variety of foods. The staff was gracious and very helpful. “Our stay at Shiomachi Roya in Tomonoura was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. I was impressed by the renovations done to turn this old merchant house into an inn. I liked the design and decor. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful.
