“They did a great job renovating the Tar Heel motel. Clean, comfortable rooms. Bring K-cups with you if you are a big coffee drinker and don’t pack heavy. This is the best of old school Outer Banks, reminds me of when my parents would take us to OBX in the 70’s staying at the Beacon.”

She was surprised at the lack of outlets for charging her many electronic devices. Myself, this was to be expected and I didn't stress over it! “Our “cottage” was a bit run down but certainly habitable. If it were mine, I’d gut it and do a complete remodel. It needed it. Beds were comfy. Location was good. Less than a minute walk to the beach which was accessible from the property. If you don’t need luxury, then you’ll be fine here, but if you’re looking for a 4 or 5 star, this ain’t it.”

“This room was across the beach road so there was no ocean view. It was just a short walk to the beach. Room was nice and seemed recently updated. There was a mini fridge and microwave in the room. The room was clean and had plenty of open space to move around.The staff were friendly and amazing. They welcomed pets with no pet fees. “Old school property. Right on the beach. Very quiet even though cars are parked right by rooms. People are quiet around you. Management is on property 24 hours a day. Beds are comfortable and shower is hot. Very clean property. Staff was friendly. Near all the good restaurants. Close to everything”

“Blue Heron's staff was very helpful and friendly. Room was very clean. Love that you are only one to enter room when there. If need supplies,simply go to office and get them. Love the no key entry. Receive a code and no worries about loosing the key. Room was updated to make it look nice. Price was very reasonable.Will definitely come back again.”

“A beautiful, well appointed spot. However, there are some issues with the service. The on site gentleman was wonderful. They were in my room fixing the fireplace when I arrived, had to come fix it again, left me just with a sheet when I said I had allergies to down-requiring me to call for a blanket, and did not have the plunges or sauna operational the duration of my stay. To their credit, they worked to get at least the sauna running. However, they only revealed the issue AFTER I booked...

“My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at The Tranquil House Inn in Manteo while we explored the Outer Banks. The rooms and service were great, and the location right on the water in downtown Manteo was perfect. Manteo has a charming downtown that offers plenty of shops and attractions without feeling too touristy. We also really enjoyed the light breakfast offerings each morning and the staff were so friendly and helpful.”
