Palo Alto, California hotel rooms at the Red Roof Inn

"We arrived in the afternoon. Both the rooftop bar as well as the lobby bar were closed for some unspecified “renovations” (even though the lobby bar was open the next morning to serve breakfast). We were given nice rooms with great decor: but no coffee machine, bathrobes or slippers. Then the night came - I had assumed that University Ave would be quiet at night and how wrong I was. A mega loud street cleaning truck was in front of the window for an hour between 3am and 4am. Had we known about it, we could have prepared with ear plugs - but no one told us. So, sleepless night. There are rooms facing the back, but no one offered. Breakfast, average. Hotel choices in Silicon Valley are limited, but this one should be avoided."

"Clean & quiet room. Breakfast was a little cold when we got there about 830, but there was a great selection. 9.95 for parking??"

"Checking in was easy, staff were friendly. The room has been renovated and was very clean. Bed was comfortable. Free parking and close to Stanford University is a plus. There is constant traffic noise from the street but at manageable level. Overall very good experience, especially for the price. "

"One-hundred-year-old hotel in the heart of Palo Alto, with walking to all the shops, Whole Foods, restaurants and the theater. The rooms are comfortable, the beds very nice, and the staff is terrific. If you don't have a car, it's a perfect location."

"Flies in the room upon arrival, old and dirty grout, peeling laminate floors, musty smelling pillows, dirty bathroom window sill and cracked window, horribly small parking spaces "

"Really limited amenities. The room was nice but basic. No lights by the bed. There were reading lights but no bulbs. No info on the tv .. there was a remote behind the tv that allowed Netflix etc but we stumbled around to find it. Minimal towels .. nice breakfast in the morning and coffee .. it was quiet and it worked for our needs . My husband was in Stanford for a procedure."
