Santa Barbara Urban Wine Trail, California hotel rooms at the Independent

"The definition of hospitality! I called after making my reservation to confirm my special request not to use a certain cleanser in the room, as I'm highly sensitive to it. Not only did a wonderful woman confirm on the call, she also emailed me to say she would let the housekeeper know. Upon arrival, the manager, who was friendly and accommodating, handled my check-in with professionalism and care. And yes, the housekeeper got the note, and there was no evidence of the cleanser. Communication and care by hotel staff is the best when traveling, and these people are 5 Star! The room was immaculate...THANKS to everyone. I will be back again!"

"The property is in pristine condition, and located right where all the action is in the Downtown Santa Monica. I love the decor. The aesthetic is quite homey. The mini bar is stocked with anything you could need during your stay. Even the soaps are nice! You will want to arrive before valet leaves for the day! Otherwise, ample parking is available in City Lot #11 (hourly)."

"Pool was okay, small but fine. Rooms were clean. Breakfast was not enough and we went out to find breakfast elsewhere. It was perfectly satisfactory but nothing amazing. Most importantly is was very clean. "

"We would have had a wonderful stay, except that housekeeping was awful. The first day they did not do our room or leave clean towels. We asked for service and were given towels, but no wash cloths. The next day we had to ask for sevice. The 3rd day, they madevthe beds and nithing else. These little things make a big difference toward avrelaxing stay. The beds are comfortable. The location is excellent. Room service is fast and delicious. There is no free parking without a good walk, so be ready to add $48 nightly to park. "

"The hotel location was perfect, literally right in front of stern’s wharf. Staff was nice and the rooms were clean. Just be aware that there is two buildings. The main building and the north building. The north building isn’t on the beach, but is just a few minutes walk or a 30 second drive from the main building "

"Beautiful modern decor, clean rooms. But the soundproofing is poor and you can hear neighbors tv and footsteps outside clear as day which is a problem in te middle of the night. "

"On the whole the unit presented lovely. However, the kitchen floor was very dirty (a lot of long black hairs all over the floor), we spilt some water on the floor and wiped it up with paper towel...it was gross. The dishcloth was disgusting, well used and falling apart, should it not be disposed of after each guest checks out? The bodywash in the shower was empty. It makes us wonder when the room was last refreshed / cleaned. The location was lovely though, literally a walk across the road and your in paradise."
