"Great, comfy bed. Good sized room. The walls are very thin so you can hear a lot from your neighbour but we had quiet ones so all good :) Really enjoyed our stay."

"I had a mixed experience staying at Hotel Garret. The staff were excellent, everyone was friendly and helpful, and I especially want to recognize Dula from security, who went above and beyond to make our stay more comfortable. However, I was disappointed that the information on Expedia was not accurate. Amenities like the swimming pool and gym were not located on-site; no fridge or microwave in room, Ice machine was located downstairs in lobby area, we had to cross the street to a sister hotel to use swimming pool and gym, which was inconvenient. Additionally, we were charged over $30 for overnight parking, which was not clearly disclosed ahead of time. These unexpected costs and discrepancies took away from an otherwise positive experience. Overall, the service was great, but I recommend confirming details about amenities and fees before booking."

"This hotel is close to the California Ave cable car stop so it is easy to get around the city. We have stayed here multiple times and it is our go to hotel when we are in the city. Staff is friendly, rooms are clean and parking is secure. When we stayed last November we were relieved to see the city seemed to be cleaned up a bit. Unfortunately that was short lived. Many homeless and drugged out people lying around right outside of the hotel. Streets smelled of urine and feces on the sidewalk. We had hoped San Francisco was getting a handle on this problem but it looks like it is right back to where it was a few years ago. Probably won’t be headed there again any time soon."

"The building itself is truly impressive, with a sense of history and grandeur that makes a strong first impression. The location is also excellent, very convenient for exploring San Francisco. That said, some areas of the hotel feel dated. The hallways in particular look old and have a harsh white lighting that feels more like a hospital than a luxury property. The rooms have high ceilings and a good size, which is a plus, but the bathrooms are relatively small. The white lighting in the rooms also creates a very cold ambiance, which takes away from the overall comfort. In general, much of the furniture throughout the hotel could benefit from a renovation. Overall, it’s a beautiful historic property in a great location. With some thoughtful modernization that respects and blends with the hotel’s classic character, it could truly be exceptional."

"Room was good. Room service was prompt. Front desk was nice. Cavana staff was great. Valet was overwhelmed and behind. Took 15 mins to valet on arrival. Luggage was left in car and took additional 30mins for me to retrieve them with multiple trips to lobby. Retrieving car to leave was the same longer wait time. The AI phone service was not helpful. Call to front desk directly."
