"Pros: This is our first time staying at a lodge like this, so close to nature, just like camping. You will hear coqui frog whole night & seeing them jumping next to your door step. Animals free roaming, peacocks, ducks, chicken. Kids loved it. Cons: There is barely any light at night in the Property…so if you come back late, it’s a bit challenging to find your cabin."

"The lodge is spectacularly located a mile from the world’s most active volcano. Amazing views and easy access to miles of trails. At 4,000 ft elevation, the air is cool. We wore long sleeves and jackets in August. The rooms are clean and comfortable, old fashioned with windows that open and no AC. The lobby areas need to be refurbished but were also clean. We didn’t try the restaurant. Overall we greatly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again. "

"Great B&B! Owner had prompt communication and provided several helpful tips. Loved having an our own private Hale which was outfitted with all the essentials including comfortable King bed. Kitchenette had mini-fridge with freezer. toaster-oven & microwave, coffee & tea in the room plus custom ordered breakfast (egg sandwich, omelette, or waffles) that came with a delicious papaya fruit bowl delivered to the room. We enjoyed being on the edge of town. So quiet!! And, only 10mins to Volcanos Nat Park which was excellent location when the eruption started at 2am!! This is a mini-ranch with many adorable animals( ducks, chickens, goats, sheep, donkey etc) You can even arrange to feed them. If you’re not an animal lover, be aware, but we really enjoyed the rural setting and watching all the critters while eating breakfast. We even had a goat kid on the hood of our car one morning. So cute! There’s a large manual gate to maneuver as you drive in & out and also a stone/dirt driveway which could be challenging for anyone with walking instability. We loved everything about our stay at Volcano Acres Ranch! "

"We loved our stay at Kehena house! We were greeted by Stephen when we arrived and given a quick tour. They were hosting a Pride potluck that day and he kindly invited us to come eat and join in as guests of the house. Everyone we met was friendly and we felt safe to be ourselves. In the room, there was a list of unique weekly activities and opportunities near by, which made the experience feel even more welcoming. The property is *amazing*. Might as well be a mini botanical gardens between the flowers, fawna, and the fruit trees. You can tell its cared for, but not obsessively manicured, a natural look. The inside of the house looks better than the pictures, perfectly clean. Thoughtful touches as well. I selected the room that is more exposed to the outside night noises, and ear plugs were provided (i didnt need them, I enjoyed the experience). There is a house cat, but she minds to herself and was friendly when approached. I enjoyed the serenity of the outdoor shower one morning. It was so peaceful, great water pressure too. The bathtub available is deep and looked great for soaking tired traveler muscles, but I didnt use it. We did walk down to the beach. There is no specific easy path down, but there are some trails and it wasnt too difficult. The water was way too rough to get in when we visited, but we got some great pics. I plan to stay here again next time I visit Hawaii. "
