"We wanted to try a different place in Boothbay someplace quieter and less touristy. Smugglers inn was perfect! It’s nestled in a private cove in a mostly residential area - fancy waterfront homes - . The rooms are lovely with very thoughtful design, comfortable beds but a small bath shower. The plus is that there is a swimming pool - very clean. Another pleasant surprise was how good the complimentary breakfast was! Fresh scrambled eggs, bacon ham sausages, fresh fruit and a lovely assortment of baked goods. We spoke to the owner chef who took such great care with the food as well as running the property. No nasty weed killers that harm the environment. You wake up to birdsong. There was a local osprey who lives in the neighboring trees and you could see him flying from one tree to another. Another plus- it is close by to the gorgeous coastal Maine Botanical Gardens"
