“The hotel is only about a year old so the building and all the fittings and furniture are in as-new condition. The staff were all cheerful and a delight to work with. The food was good both breakfast and the evening meals. The location right on the foreshore is attractive with lovely views of the sunrise but it is well away from the centre of Torquay. When I arrived Google maps had the location 300 metres too close to the main part of Torquay so you need to check this before setting a route.”

“Very nice room. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff. My only criticism would be the indoor pool which is looking a bit tired”

“We are regular visitors to the Grand, and after a dip around a year ago, are pleased to say the breakfasts are back as good as ever. Our room had been recently decorated and with the exception of loose shelf in the bathroom was in a great condition.”

“Perfect location”

“Staff were great, friendly and helpful. Will stay again when down there next.”

“Lovely hotel in the heart of Exeter”

“I stayed in this hotel in Exeter Oct 26-29. The woman who checked me in could not seem less happy to see me or in in checking me in. My room was lovely and quiet and clean... until I lost something and looked under the bed where there were someone's dirty underwear, a pair of glasses and God knows what else amidst an inch of dust. Extremely gross I called down to reception multiple times and there was no answer. For three nights reception was mostly absent. When my key wouldn't work I waited 20...

“Room was spacious with large tv. T8ssue and part of hairbrush behind large table. Missing fixings in shower and shower bowl filled up with water. Curtain rail was missing fixing. Bed was comfortable and nice view of sea. Be prepared for a 20mins walk down a steep hill to town centre. Hydro baths were nice”

“Room was nice.”

“Good old style hotel directly opposite Exeter Central station. Room was huge. We have stayed here before and would do again.”
