Sugar Beach Resort Hotel

"The room was outdated in decor. We loved the location right on the beach and I spent a lot of time sitting outside. But the tiled floor needed mopping and wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling. The breakfast in a bag was just a tragedy. For the price I paid for the room a skimpy, cold, cellophane wrapped item that I need to microwave just didn't cut it. The room was not cleaned in the three days we were there, and additional towels were not provided. Several times we requested additional coffee. Finally, the alarm clock was so bright that my husband kept it under the bed. It is not the fault of the hotel, but there were children running up and down the hall and slamming doors while yelling until 10 PM. Additionally, the room next door served as the gathering place for a large family staying in another part of the hotel. They were cooking in the room and the smell of the spices was awful. They felt that the area in front of our room was needed for their get together. I was very disappointed in our stay at Sugar Beach. This was my husband's third time running the Marathon. If he decides to run it again we will stay somewhere else."

"We had a great stay at the Grand Beach Resort! We went for Memorial Day weekend and I was pleasantly surprised with the accommodating nature of the staff (especially Adriel!!!) . They handled our minor concerns with care and professionalism and the room was clean, breakfast was timely and tasty, and the beach was maintained and so enjoyable - all for a reasonable price, even on a holiday weekend. I will DEFINITELY be back when I return to Traverse City and will recommend to others."

"My wife and I stayed here for a function in Traverse City and this place was wonderful all the way around. Lots of room everywhere including parking and it's right on the beach. This is the place if you're staying in TC!"

"The two queen bed room with the water view was big for 3 of us. However, it was very noisy starting 6 AM with people walking amd talking loud in the hallway. Also, the elevator was not working for two days. They gave us $30 gift card which was nice. Get a room on 4th floor."

"The room needed lots of repairs. Dark, dirty and dingy. The balcony door was broken. Moved the pillows on the bed and found garbage underneath. Not very well kept up. Breakfast was terrible. Very sketchy place. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone."

"Our room was very nice and the staff were all friendly. This is a historic property - which I generally like, but it has been so "updated" that it has lost some of its original charm. Only 1 elevator was working and it was intolerably slow, but I assume that is something being worked on. The lounge at the top is very nice - very friendly barkeep and great views of the city. The restaurant (additional charge) was very nice and had enjoyable offerings."
