The perfect introduction to Death Valley is this lookout near the entrance, where fighter jets occasionally whiz by on their way to nearby Rainbow Canyon.

5/5 Excellent
"Amazing location and facilities to say it is in the middle of death valley. It is a bit tired and dated, not the cleanest, but good value for money. We loved eating in the restaurant but be prepared for a wait, they do not allow pre-booking so first come first served, not sure how that works if you have a big party, but food is very good even if a little pricey. Local convenience store is good and the ice cream parlour is a must. "

Oh yeah!
"Really liked the updated version of 2017. Rooms were very comfortable, excellent beds! Roomy, nice size, and lovely balcony. Shower was nice, a little small, but it did not matter. Grounds were just beautiful, enjoyable walks around the palm gardens. Restaurant was nice, food prepared well, and service was outstanding. Kay was a gem! She made our stay that much more enjoyable. Steves was also a very good server. Dave on the lounge bar makes one perfect cocktail, and he certainly makes you want to linger after your drink. My only, and only negative, was Ann. She was the evening hostess and is just downright surly, and rude too. I hoped she was just having a bad day, but her attitude persisted throughout our stay. Too bad.... such a great place!"
