"I booked and fully prepaid for a Tower Ocean View room well in advance. What I actually got was a second-floor “Parking Lot View” room with a spectacular panorama of parked cars. Apparently, the hotel decided that the room I had already paid for would be better enjoyed by someone else.
Since I arrived late at night, I didn’t have the chance to argue at check-in. More importantly, nobody from the hotel bothered to explain what happened or even acknowledge the downgrade. The reservation was made through a third-party platform, and only later was I told that the hotel was sold out — which somehow justified giving away the room I had already prepaid for. Their “solution” was a complimentary snack package, presented as if I should be deeply grateful for the generosity.
What makes this even more ridiculous is that the snack package was never explained as compensation. I had simply asked if there was a market open in the hotel because, unbelievably, there wasn’t even a basic vending machine available. So the “welcome snack” was framed as hospitality, not as an apology for selling my room to someone else.
In summary: I paid for an ocean view and got upgraded to a parking lot view instead.
If you choose to stay here, I strongly recommend NOT paying in advance — because apparently your reservation is only theoretical until someone else comes along."
