“Fantastic stopover on trip down south . Recently refurbished with great food and exceptional staff. Room was a tad small however this was balanced with cleanliness and really nice toiletries. The food was freshly cooked quickly served and a great range of options. Breakfast - amazing and included in price -”

“Stayed two nights. Very nice hotel with welcoming staff. Excellent dinner and breakfast. Could have been an even better experience...although a quiet and spacious room, avoid room 19 unless you are aware this room has very little natural light as that is blocked out by structures at the back of the hotel. Little light and no view is not ideal. Advised by staff to book directly with hotel next time if wanting to avoid that sort of misunderstanding!”

“Car park was full in the evening so had to park in a lay-by nearby. The staff were helpful and the breakfast was good. We were in a top floor room with a very low ceiling that could do with some padding on the corners as it was a safety hazard.”

“Lovely staff, beautiful surroundies good place to access hikes or lovly small towns. Roads are narrow getting there but it is a gorgeous location. Excellent breakfast and pub food. We really enjoyed our stay.”

“We stayed here just as a stop over and it was a very small and low double bed in a huge room. It wasnt the cleanest so I was glad I had slippers with me. Shower ceiling was too low for a 6'2 person so my partner had to crouch. The main parts of the hotel looked nice on arrival, but we didnt make use of it. Nice and quiet despite the location.”

“Stayed in this hotel 27 years ago … and I don’t think it’s had any work done since then… I found out during our stay that the hotel was used for holding illegal immigrants…”

“The hotel is in the beautiful city of Grasmere. There was limited parking even though online advertised available parking. When I booked online, the family room showed two beds. When we arrived, there was only one. The plumbing was very noisy and the shower was very narrow and hard to use. The bed was not comfortable at all. ”

“The rooms were luxuriously furnished and the hotel overall is very cosy and welcoming. Staff couldn;t do enough to help and the attention to detail was fantastic, everything from bags for walking boots to fresh milk on the landing for in room tea and coffee. A bottle of speciality beer in the room was a bonus.”
