“Stayed one night when attending a wedding in the castle. Can only recommend on my visit. Looked after by Cathy from arrival until breakfast next morning. Had dinner at Crown hotel a few mins from hotel and 10% discount on food was applied for hotel guests. Mind flash the key fob to let them know before the bill is on table. Lovely freshly cooked breakfast was served and tea/ coffee top ups were no trouble if asked for. Recommend the Kirkstyle if staying in the area.”

“Having parking was a huge benefit, the high street does get busy so knowing it wasn't going to be an issue is great. “The Abbey Residence has a rooming house feel. We had a spacious room with large but dated ensuite. The walls could use a lick of paint, but there were no real issues with the room. Wifi was good and our room had a good sized Roku based smart TV with lots of streaming options. Parking in central Edinburgh is hard so leave your car at the Abbey Residence and catch the bus into town from the bus stop just across the road. It’s no high end hotel, but our room was clean and comfortable with good...

“Booked just ‘cause it fitted my travel plans but found a great wee Hotel punching well above. Dinky room but well appointed. Great restaurant with good selection on menu, delicious 2 courses served by friendly, attentive staff. Breakfast cooked fresh, best I’ve had in sometime. Very good quality for not a lot of money. Thank you for being so welcoming.”

There were two people waiting for us when we arrived and someone carried everything upstairs for us. It was a great place to stop overnight. We stayed on the top floor in a very big, pretty room that fit five (we were 4). Shared bathroom, but we were the only ones upstairs, so no big deal. “Overall, the property was in good condition and appeared well maintained. Since the check-in process is entirely self-service, I ran into an issue when my key set did not include the main door entrance key. Fortunately, a staff member was available to assist me; otherwise, I would have been locked out. The room had a noticeable moldy smell, and the washroom did not provide any toiletries, which was disappointing. On the positive side, the bed linens and towels were clean, freshly washed, and...
