“We had a cozy room on the top floor facing north with wonderful views and excellent air flow. The breakfasts were out of this world, and the service was very pleasant. They also bake some great cakes and cookies. It’s also well located for two wonderful walks. The stone circle and Walla Crag.”

“For a 3 star hotel this ticks all the boxes great value excellent breakfast and a lovely set dinner menu that changes daily. Lovely friendly but professional staff and quiet location but still less than a 5 minute walk to town. You do need to book for dinner as this is a very popular restaurant. If I could find one fault it would be on a personal opinion only and that is that dinner service is to quick between courses but that’s because I like each course to go down before the next is served....

“Room was very hot, no fan or windows to give airflow, could do with a deep clean. Quite noisy.”

“Whilst my room was small, it had all I needed. The highlight was the staff: reception and bar/restaurant staff were excellent. Polite, attentive, efficient. Breakfast was very good with a wide choice. The restaurant menu for dinner was ok but sometimes a wider simpler choice would have been nice.”

“A lovely hotel in spectacular surrounds. Sophie at front of house welcomed us warmly and gave us all the info we needed, she's a treasure. The room was gorgeous, spacious, clean with a lovely view to boot! Very appreciative of the luxury of it all after walking Derwentwater! We enjoyed thoroughly our dinner at the restaurant, and breakfast was a real treat! Highly recommend - a wonderful place to unwind and relax!”

“A beautiful B & B run by Karen in a tiny hamlet near Keswick. The room was delightful with comfortable bed and furnishings that matched the age and style of the building perfectly. Lovely view from the window over Karen's wonderful garden with, at the time I stayed, a hen with 8 tiny chicks. Parking was easy and the breakfasts filling and delicious. A wonderful stay in the Lake District.”

“We stayed only 1 overnight on the way down from scotland. We could see lot of people staying for visiting the lakes. The hotel is in a very nice location. They are also pet friendly and they provided us a towel and a bowl for the dog. We highly recommend both breakfast and set menù dinner which was very nice. Room was clean and bathroom looked recently renewed.”

“We stayed at the Horse and Farrier the night before our hike up Scafell Pike, it's only a 25 minute drive to Seathwaite Parking, if you're going up the corridor route. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. the food was lovely and the room we stayed in was clean, well presented and comfy. Definitely recommend eating nd staying here!”

“Kettle in room was dirty brown yellowy in the bottom asked for it to be cleaned to be told it had been cleaned so was unable to make a brew in the room. Breakfast was ok although fried egg was not cooked properly very snotty. Boiled eggs uncooked today. The woman had bad attitude the way she spoke to guest blunt and rude. Would not stay here again.”
