My female family and friends came to visit Southern California, and so I booked this 3-bedroom Malibu beach house. The ocean is right outside, so the view and the ocean breeze were wonderful, though there is not much room to really go down on the beach because the water sometimes comes nearly up to the house. Being able to stay together in one house was better than staying in separate hotel rooms. However, we expected more from a Malibu beach house. We only stayed two days, and we ran out of toilet paper; there was only about one extra roll per bathroom. Also, there was a washer and dryer, but no laundry detergent and no detergent for the dishes either (at least as far as we could see). There is a courtyard area toward the front of the house, but it did not look very inviting. It had not been cleaned and leaves were everywhere, so we did not use it. There is a balcony which faces the ocean, but it was hard getting in and out of the sliding screen door. Also, there were ants and tiny spiders in the house...not enough to ruin our stay, but enough that they need to spray for bugs. All in all, the house is good for groups if you guys are concerned about staying together, but if you're looking for comfort and luxury, then get a hotel. The owners/management are quick to respond to calls and emails, and booking and check-in were easy, but little effort was made to make this what I'd consider a vacation rental.
