"Excellent location, right in the action, a block to 5th ave and tons of restaurants and bars. Only a few rooms in the hotel have been renovated to look like the pictures, mine was not, looked like it was renovated in 1970, but it was clean, no mold, no bugs. Bed was firm but comfortable, smart tv and good A/C. Big issue for me was no mini fridge. Ivan the manager was awesome, very helpful and kind. "The hotel has a classic appearance, and considering how near it is to 5th Avenue it was remarkably quiet (not silent, but not loud either). Room was clean and comfortable, the staff very kind. Cool oceanic water feature in the courtyard, and a nice small pool (we didn't have time to enjoy it ourselves). Close to lots of dining options, and s half block from 5th Ave. If we were going to spend more time in Playa del Carmen, we would definitely choose this hotel. "

"I stayed at Viva Azteca by Wyndham and really enjoyed it. It’s a smaller, quieter resort with fewer kids and less partying, which made it perfect for a relaxed, chill atmosphere. The food was delicious, and the staff were very welcoming. If you’re looking for something bigger with more activities and entertainment, I’d recommend checking out Viva Maya, but if you prefer a laid-back vibe, Azteca is a great choice."

"Just left Alltra. What a beautiful hotel. I loved all of the architecture and the grounds are very clean. We upgraded to an ocean view with a nice big balcony. The room is really pretty and very clean. The bathroom was very nice and a great shower. Hot and lots of pressure. The foam party was so much fun. The pool was the cleanest pool I’ve ever seen at an all inclusive resort. The service at all restaurants/bars/pool was excellent. The location is perfect. 2 blocks off 5th Avenue. The small beach was nice and cute bar on the beach. We had to search for it at first but once we found it, it was great. Roof top pool also. We didn’t get in. I would definitely recommend this hotel as it is perfect. My only complaint was the guacamole was made with oil. Who puts oil in guacamole?? Apparently people do that in Playa at a few restaurants. We just asked for no oil. Enjoy Alltra"
"We had a great time at Playacar Palace! Room was lovely- we got an upgrade to full ocean view. Staff is amazing, so friendly and accommodating. Food is delicious- my only note would be I wish the buffet was open every night, sometimes a dress up dinner is too much. Pool is fun, activity directors are great. I do wish they had more night life- things are pretty quiet by 10 pm.
There was some impact from the seaweed problems in the area, but the hotel had workers/ trucks out there every morning working like crazy to clear the beach. By the end of the week it was much better. It is out of their control, unfortunately, but they are on top of it.
My family went on many excursions and this is a great location for a home base for adventures- or if chilling by the pool is your thing, it’s great for that too! I feel like it’s smaller than some resorts, but I liked that! Highly recommend!"
