"i thought the property was closer to MRT, and transportation description does not match reality. having said that, it was convenient to go by bus, but takes more time to go into city center.
also, it might be a good idea to remind travellers there is another hotel of the same name in the area."

It is a safe city to explore with easy transportation support. Food is extremely cheap and tasty. No need to do food court food which is not as good as some of the locals. Also shops open late and 7/11 opens 24 hours.

Clean city, friendly people, MRT easy to use, lots to see. Lungshan temple, Chiang Kai Shek are must see places, also Daan Park, Peace Park and Taipei Zoo. Ran out of time to do all we wanted, so will have to come back.

Great city, with great eats and sights. Not everyone speaks English, but Google translate certainly helps. Very walkable with good public transportation. Great night markets and of course, bubble tea.

Good food and inexpensive, good sight seeing. Excellent public transportation (convenient, easy, fast, clean, last but not least: quiet). City feels a bit dated, some areas just short of run-down.
"Everything was perfect! I couldn’t find a single thing wrong with the hotel. The onsen was nice and location was right next to the train station. I will probably stay here again next time I come back to Taipei"
"We were there early and because my mom was too old and one of the front desk staff check us in early. We really appreciate very much so my mom can go into the room and relax a bit. Thanks!"
"This hotel was very well kept, clean, and recently refurbished. The staff downstairs were very friendly and helpful. They took care of my postage and delivery of postcards to canada. They provide some snacks and drinks in the room, which are refilled when the room is cleaned.
The pool is beautiful and there is always staff on duty as a lifeguard. The sauna doesn't allow you in with clothes, which wasn't my jam.
The beds were firm, the air con strong and it was a very pleasant stay. "
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Westgate Hotel in Ximending, Taipei. The location is unbeatable—just steps from the MRT/subway station, surrounded by endless dining options, massage parlours, and within easy walking distance to everything in Ximending.
We booked the Executive Suite since we were traveling with four large suitcases, and the room was adequately spacious, clean, and comfortable. The standout, however, was the exceptional service—from the warm welcome at the front desk to the attentive staff in the restaurant, everyone was polite, friendly, and genuinely welcoming.
Our room included daily complimentary breakfast, offering a great selection of both Western and local dishes. The food was fresh, delicious, and well-presented—though it can get crowded at peak times.
Overall, Westgate Hotel exceeded our expectations, and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again on our next visit to Taipei. Highly recommended for both location and hospitality."
"I couldn’t be more pleased with my experience at this hotel! From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. Check-in was smooth and efficient, and the front desk team was friendly, professional, and incredibly helpful with my specific requests.
The room was spotless and spacious with a great view of Taipei 101. The bed was super comfortable with high-quality linens. The housekeeping team did an excellent job each day, keeping everything fresh and tidy. One of the highlights was the breakfast – delicious, fresh, and with a great variety of options to suit all tastes. I highly recommend it whether you are traveling for pleasure or business! "
