Our family of four fit in reasonably well, although the room did seem bigger in the pictures. Nijo castle is very close, but for everything else we took an Uber. Location is not very central, but close enough to, say, Kamo river. Rooms are reasonably sized for Japan, good air conditioning (essential in late July), hot high pressure shower and OK sized fridge. "Excellent onsen hotel right at the end of the first day of the Kohechi Kumano Kodo pilgrimage trail. I came for the onsen and mountain seclusion, but they had such good maps of the Kohechi at the front desk that I decided to walk back to Koyasan the day I checked out. It’s about 20km through the mountains from Nosegawa Onsen to Koyasan, walking on a mix of well-kept trails and paved roads; overall, a moderately difficult hike with very good signage.
