“For a truly historic and immersive stay this Temple is perfect. Near all the most significant sites in Koyasan.”

“This is a great traditional Japanese experience. The town of Koyasan is a bit far to get to but it’s worth it! You get a quieter and unique way to spend a night in a Buddhist temple - the rooms are spacious and clean, decorated in a simple Japanese style; the food is all vegetarian and delicious; meals are included. There is also a small onsen onsite which you can use during the posted bathing hours. The prayer service in the morning is the icing on the cake. The monks make you feel welcome and...

“The property is beautiful and well maintained. Staying in Koyasan was the highlight of our trip to Japan from Canada and it didn’t disappointment! The grounds are cared for, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the rooms are nice and comfortable. The location is great as everything is within walking distance but you aren’t on the main road. 10/10!”

“We traveled around Japan for three weeks, but our stay at Asahikan was definitely the highlight of our trip. It was three wonderful days of amazing Michelin-level food, hot baths and relaxing in yukata - surrounded by an interior architectural gem. Asahikan is easily accessible from Osaka and Kyoto - a short train ride followed by a short bus/taxi ride. We took the taxi, which was very cheap and easy. You get incredible value for your money - the place is beautifully decorated and well...

“Such a cute and comfortable stay in the center of Koyasan! The traditional tatami rooms with shoji screen doors were so lovely. Tucked just off the main street, the area was nice and quiet. The restaurant next door stayed open until 10pm and the conbini just a few steps further made it very convenient. The bus stop is right there and one of the helpful guides at the station gave me a map with the stayhouse and my bus stop marked. We very much enjoyed our stay!”
