“It’s the perfect stay to stop just off the M6 when driving from Scotland to England. It’s a beautifully decorated pub, with lovely staff and excellent breakfast and dinner. This time our ferry was cancelled from Mull and so we had to change the booking at the last moment. They were understanding and there was no problem rolling over the booking until we could get off the island. We will be forever loyal to this wonderful stop just south of Penrith. ”

The room and bathroom were immaculately cleaned and well kept and the host is a gem who cooks the best breakfast which includes lovely free range eggs from her own hens. Waking up in the morning to the view over a beautiful garden beyond the lake to Skiddaw was an extra treat as each morning there was a new ever changing Lake District vista. I'll definitely be back! ”

“This is a lovely hotel, well located for stunning views of the landscape. Our room was well decorated, and had a lovely bathroom with a walk in shower. The walls were pretty thin, we could hear people in the neighbouring rooms around us. The bed was really comfortable, excellent Wi-fi and a smart TV on the wall was perfect. “Our room, on the first floor, was excellent with lovely views. The food was of a high quality and the service was very good except on one of our three evenings when we were forgotten about and it took at least three complaints to get our meal started. On this occasion we were in the restaurant for about two hours and it took 45 minutes before we got our starter. This was a shame because otherwise everything was perfect.”
