King George Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"My room was small but that is totally okay with me. I just needed a nice, clean room to sleep and shower. I spent most of the day outside exploring “The City.” The elevator was not working the next day so I had to use the stairs and since I was staying on the sixth floor it was good exercise. I did not mind the workout since I stay in good shape and fitness. I don’t know how often the elevator goes out of service but if you are out of shape, you might reconsider not staying here. The room was very clean and the bed was firm and very comfortable! There was no view from the window but I did not care. Again, I was outside all day. The King George Hotel is now my favorite hotel and I will most definitely be staying there on my next visit to SF!!"

"Check in was rather stressful for some in our party. Some in our party do not drink alcohol, and the front desk person was very pushy with trying to give a bottle of wine, or complimentary cards for a glass of beer/wine. She would not take "no thank you" for an answer. The door to our room was extremely heavy, and hard to open. The pocket bathroom door was heavy as well. In the bathroom, there were no places to hang wet towels, other in the shower. Not a great option when there were 3 of us showering. The workout room was very nice, and some of the staff were very helpful."

"The hotel is lovely, with a tasteful and stylish makeover. There are some building works happening at the front, with scaffolding around. The staff are usually helpful and attentive. The location in downtown San Francisco is generally convenient, but it does seem a bit more run down than some other areas of the city, and it is clear that the effects of the drug use and homelessness epidemic are being felt. "
