You like history? York has that in spades. You could easily spend all day in the Minster alone, and as for the Shambles.... Beautiful. Ghost walks a plenty and haunted pubs. Go visit the cell Dick Turpin occupied at the York Museum. Plenty to do

Minster Gate Bookshop, The Society of Alchemists, The Clock Antique Centre, Walk around the wall and lovely Market. All worth doing and visiting. Delicious cheese burgers from Macs burger wagon next to St Sampsons centre nr Silver street £3.50.

There is so much to do and so much to see in and around York. The city is steeped in fascinating history. We really enjoyed walking round the city walls but it would have been good to have plaques along the way saying what we were looking at.

As always, York lives up to it's reputation. Lively, bustling, energetic. A vibrant nightlife, with some great pubs and restaurants. The Christmas market is one of the best in the world. Always a joy to visit. I look forward to my next trip !

The bars and restaurants are amazing, shopping is good with the quirky little shops. Lovely walk around the walls. Valhalla is a bar to visit just to get a Viking experience, stone rises bar for a good ding along and tomahawks steak house

York is beatiful! Historic buildings everywhere you look. Very pedestrian friendly and easy to visit. Take note that it's a very small city and everything closes early - 8.30pm. Make reservations at restaurants as they fill up quickly.

Walking around the wall was excellent. I would highly recommend the bus tour, and also do a ghost hunt. York is very popular, and was very busy when we were there. There is plenty to see and do, and lots of nice places to eat.
"The room was peaceful and we had a good nights sleep. The room was a little tired but was still clean. The staff were really helpful and friendly. The spa area was also relaxing, again a little tired but was still very pleasant."
"Son booked his room as he's staff from another Marriott, his Superior room was clean and everything was as expected. Just one small minor issue a couple of loose boards on the balcony - didnt distract the view of the Racecourse.
My daughter & i got a free unexpected upgrade to a family room which was huge for just the two of us.
Breakfast was fitting for a Marriot, son won't comment as he's a chef, service and staff were excellent.
The only thing i didnt like and the Marriott cant do too much about is that the pool area is right at the front of the hotel, you have to walk past to get to car park at the side.
Wandering around the grounds we walked the Apple orchard- so many apples wasted, didnt see advertised a Tennis court, which had we known, we would have used.
