York Castle Museum is amazing- well worth the entry fee as was York Minster. Enoteca Italian restuarant in Bridge Strret very good - best meal we had. Found eating out in York very expensive (average £22-£25) for a main course with no veg. or extras.

York has so much history packed into a compact city centre. The imposing, Minster, the magical Shambles where you can shake hands across the street, Railway Museum, Clifford's Tower, Castle Museum with Dick Turpin's cell, the Viking Centre & more.

You like history? York has that in spades. You could easily spend all day in the Minster alone, and as for the Shambles.... Beautiful. Ghost walks a plenty and haunted pubs. Go visit the cell Dick Turpin occupied at the York Museum. Plenty to do

There is so much to do and so much to see in and around York. The city is steeped in fascinating history. We really enjoyed walking round the city walls but it would have been good to have plaques along the way saying what we were looking at.

As always, York lives up to it's reputation. Lively, bustling, energetic. A vibrant nightlife, with some great pubs and restaurants. The Christmas market is one of the best in the world. Always a joy to visit. I look forward to my next trip !

The bars and restaurants are amazing, shopping is good with the quirky little shops. Lovely walk around the walls. Valhalla is a bar to visit just to get a Viking experience, stone rises bar for a good ding along and tomahawks steak house

York is beatiful! Historic buildings everywhere you look. Very pedestrian friendly and easy to visit. Take note that it's a very small city and everything closes early - 8.30pm. Make reservations at restaurants as they fill up quickly.

Walking around the wall was excellent. I would highly recommend the bus tour, and also do a ghost hunt. York is very popular, and was very busy when we were there. There is plenty to see and do, and lots of nice places to eat.
"Lobby restaurant better than roof-top restaurant. Shower very good. Toiletries plentiful. Too many unmarked light and electrical switches. Luckily some seemed to come on automatically. Location is excellent for trains and easy walking access to York Minster and the tourist attractions. National Railway Museum currently very distant to access, due to reconstruction."
