The room was extremely comfortable and had everything we needed for a pleasant stay. Delicious cooked breakfast. Great location, close to town centre and a ten minute walk from the train station. "

"This was a fantastic find for an overnight stay on our way to Glasgow, wish we could have stayed longer and explored the lake and surrounding areas. The bar and restaurant were very good and the couple who were managing the pub at the time of our stay were excellent hosts. There is plenty of parking and this very old pub has very modern rooms. Would defiantly recommend and stay again. "

"Free wine, flowers and chocolates - WOW ! Compact, clean, brill TV/WIFI. Back yard is well overlooked (BBQ ?). One expensive shop, NO pub. Close to Pennines, for walkers. Good central heating, never used the log burner. Disappointing area for a "cottage" ? "

"The Kings Head is so atmospheric - immediately upon walking in we felt at home, warm and cosy, very welcome after walking up to the 9 Standards Rigg in fog and rain. We stayed in Room 5, which we think was either above the bar or games room area and although we were aware of the music etc, it didn’t detract from our comfort and enjoyment. The room was lovely and clean, bed very comfortable. Fresh fruit always available on the way to our room which is a lovely touch. Breakfast choice was great,...
