I stayed for 3 weeks. My airconditioning in the room worked well, my shower was hot and had great water pressure, the buffet was almost always open if we were hungry and the staff was great. It isn't a high end hotel but I have no regrets about staying there. There is no evening entertainment, there are no stools at the bar to sit, they have limited activities, they run out of towels, but for the money it was worth it. Would i stay there again? No....I would pay a little more for a better place.

Overall 9/10, main drawback is check-in, which takes a really long time. We’ve been coming here for years (2009, 2011, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2023), and the food was noticeably improved this trip. Ordering off the menu is still the way to go if the buffet doesn’t have what you’d like. The buffet is average all-inclusive food, but the flattop grill had something decent for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Not the best food we’ve had, but far from the worst. The grounds show some wear, but the staff works hard to maintain them. Rooms are dated and beds are firm, but we’re barely in the room anyway. Our AC worked great (almost too well), and the TV wasn’t great but not a big deal for us. The biggest highlight is snorkeling right out front, lots of fish. We would walk to the tidal pool before the Westin and drift back with the current, you’ll see more fish this way. If you’re more adventurous, enter at the Westin, Buccanos or the old condos and float back. I’d use a dive flag or buoy if you choose this route. The staff truly stands out here, welcoming, kind, and attentive. Aldo, Kevin, Omar, Juan, Yaneth, Santiago, and Paulino were great. The activities team (Cesar, Angel, Leo, Michel) were awesome, and our son loved the kids club. Big picture, if you expect a 5-star luxury resort, you’ll probably be disappointed. But if you understand what the El Cozumeleno is, take advantage of the pros, and don’t plan to spend a ton of time in your room, you’ll likely be pleasantly surprised.

The resort itself is ok averge for most things. However, the beds are very stiff, and it's impossible to get decent sleep. We went with a group of 6 people, between four rooms. Our rooms were all on different floors and everyone had the same compliant about the beds. Wifi rarely worked, and if it did, it was incredibly slow. Honestly, we gave up and didn’t connect to it most of our 10-day stay. The food was ok but was the same things pretty much every day. There is no refrigerator in your rooms, so bringing anything back to the hotel rooms was difficult. Especially if you wanted to keep drinks cold. The AC didn't work in our room, but our friends' rooms did. The staff are friendly but more approachable depending on how well you tip. Overall, we don't regret staying there but personally would not stay there again.

The people are excellent. The food was terrible. Only one place to eat without having to secure a reservation at 8am. The bathrooms were moldy. There was no night activities like shows or dances. I would not stay here again.

The staff is amazing; the hotel itself is beautiful on the outside and the lobby area. The rooms are all in need of desperate updates. The snorkeling directly out front of the hotel is incredible. The beach is big and beautiful. As for the menu, it is limited. The omelette station is great for breakfast, use the QR code to order off the menu for lunches and be in line by 7:45am every morning to get reservations at the restaurant for dinner. The roof needs to be fixed at the beach restaurant to keep the birds out better. The drinks are good.

This property was the worst resort property I’ve ever stayed at. To start out at check-in we stood in line for over an hour. There were probably 40 people checking in at the same time and they only had two staff members. After we get to the front desk we find out there was an additional resort fee of $15 per day added onto our stay. It wasn’t disclosed, when we initially purchased the package from Sun Country. The person checking us in “upgraded” us to room 317. We were supposed to have a two bed premium oceanfront room. We thought, wow, the gentleman’s being nice. The upgrade room was in the old tower. It was a large room with a king size bed that was broken in the middle. A huge divot so that you both would roll to the middle of the bed. We had a toilet that didn’t flush and a shower that didn’t work. The room smelled of mold. To top it off the air conditioner was broken. We went back to the front desk and asked for the room that we booked. They said they were sold out and it was too bad because they already gave the next a room. The lady who we spoke to was the manager her name was Fatima. She was awful. No apologies. Nothing, just suck it up. I ended up calling Expedia and they talked to the manager on the phone. They agreed to switch us to another room the next day. They would also send someone to fix the air-conditioning. Five hours later at about 9 PM, they showed up to fix the air conditioner. Granted my girlfriend and I have been up since 3 o’clock the prior morning

Ocean was beautiful, the suite ocean front room we got was outdated, no frame work in the room, TV was super small, room smelled, food was limited. Bare minimum, the water notes were painted red for hot blue for cold, vent in the bathroom was a window fan that was wired into the switch. No fridge, charged for safety amenities like the safe and with today's issues that should be given not charged. No ATM onsite to be able to tip the staff. Website stated free wifi and that was a lie, they charged for wifi. Plugs in the room would shock and spark when charging phone. Could not reserve dinner at the only restaurant. Rat was walking on the beams of the buffet. The owner needs to update that place. Only thing nice was the beach.

They don’t offer a refrigerator for your room, they make you rent one, no water was offered, you had to buy it at the front desk. When asked to have a water while waiting in line at the front desk they said they didn’t have any water available but water was sitting right behind the desk. After receiving the refrigerator we had to rent, the staff plugged in the refrigerator and it started an electrical fire in our room. We asked to be moved to a different room and they didn’t want to accommodate the request for some reason but did only after demanding we be moved. Nonetheless, we ended up booking a different hotel. Sadly I’ve never stayed at a resort this poor before. There are. Better places to stay for the same money. Don’t book this resort.

Room was clean and old but as expected, no air for 3 days even after several attempts to have it fixed. Buffet at breakfast is okay, lunch and supper is pretty poor. QR code menu is very good and was our go-to for meals. Specialty restaurant has potential. Some staff were amazing (Kevin at the swim up bar, activities staff and some waitstaff) others very rude, especially the front desk staff. I get they take the complaints constantly and I’m sure are tired of hearing negative things but rudeness from moment one when checking in doesn’t give a good first impression. Overall beach is wonderful and pools great.

The facility is pretty old and needs a lot of repairs. The food was ok, not a lot of selection but the staff were friendly. The pools and beach areas were clean and well kept up, which was the main reason we were there.

Sadly we will never see a need to return. Many positive reviews are false as we found by 6 am all beach chairs and poolside taken so we left the resort daily to go to local beach clubs. The food was horrible so we went out for breakfast lunch and dinner daily. We are not high maintenance at all but this resort is a 0 to a low 1 starvat absolute best

There are a lot of mixed reviews on The Cozumeleno Beach Resort, and I can understand both sides. It is a bit of a dated property with some needed upkeep/repair issues that could use tending to. I was debating whether to give 3 or 4 star for my review, but settled on the 4 because the staff is (overwhelmingly) friendly and helpful. There are several aspects of the resort that are a 3 however. The food does not measure up to that of many other all-inclusive's (this was my 6th All-Inclusive in Mexico). The buffet was often out of items, and took very long (if ever) to re-stock. If you plan to dine off-site, this wouldn't be so much of an issue, but we ate nearly every meal at the resort and it was a 3 at best. Overall, a good experience. And because it was lower priced that the other all-inclusive resorts on Cozumel, I would recommend it for those who may be on a tighter budget or if you aren't terribly picky on food selection/quality. But if you want a higher end all-inclusive experience, and food is of high importance to you, then I would suggest a higher rated place.

Honestamente la comida es mala, no me refiero a sabor sino a que la variedad del buffet es 1 o 2 opciones, no se siente buffet realmente. Las instalaciones son antiguas, el mobiliario desafortunadamente me tocaron sillas rotas en mi terraza. Supongo que se compensa con el horario de la piscina; nos quedamos hasta las 10:30 de la noche nuestra ultima noche.

The staff were amazing! Everyone was kind and attentive to all of our requests! Check in system is very slow and was challenging after a long day of travel. Buffets were good and the kids loved the food! Sit down dinner we only went 1 time because reservations were hard to get for our big group and the food was just ok. Activities were minimal but Cesar was fun and tries to get everyone involved! Beach was beautiful and secluded! Taxi service was fast and easy, 20 usd per ride to town. We loved our time at El Cozumeleno! For a more budget friendly all inclusive option we would highly recommend! Make your own fun at this beautiful property! El Coz has so much character!
Beach and snorkeling are a high light!
