“Lovely building and very close to town centre, all the staff are lovely - friendly and helpful. Our room was ok but not as clean as it should have been, only 1 set of towels on arrival, shower gel was empty. All got resolved though as soon as I requested. We hung up our towels to re-use but they were changed each day. Free bottled water provided each day and good tea and coffee set up. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was amazing - plenty of choices and really well done. Menu only, no buffet for...

“The room was very clean, staff was friendly and off road parking great. But the place could really do with an update, very tired and uninspiring with a good cooked breakfast but being let down by cheap ingredients. Best bit is coffee out of lavazza coffee machine. ”

“Such a unique property. We stayed in the room that Queen Victoria stayed in, and slept in the original bed, they also have the original 7 foot bathtub - best bath ever. The staff were so attentive.”

Breakfast in the lovely conservatory was truly spectacular with fresh fruit, croissants and a piping hot breakfast. We would highly recommend a stay with David and Elvira!!”

“The room was clean & we had a nice meal, however we asked for breakfast at 8am due to a ride event we were attending. However, the following day no breakfast was available & the chef was unaware of our request, which was a shame & left with no food. Also, on the Expedia site the room I booked was £52 each, but I was charged £112, & not sure where the fault lies though suspect it is Expedia”

“We stayed in a comfortable twin room at the Hand Hotel with a view across the river. One of the beds was slightly tilted due to the sloping floor which could have been easily corrected by using feet raisers on two of the bed legs.”

“I will start with a positive! Staff friendly and accommodating. That is the only positive I have to say about this hotel. Rooms leave a lot to be desired, very run down and would benefit from a good clean. We moved rooms 3 times before we made the decision to stay - wish I had stuck with my gut and left straight away. Restaurant and bar area needs a good clean just as much as rooms. I can safely say I won’t be back and certainly would not recommend this place. ”

“As basic as they get. Just enough to meet your needs for 1 or 2 nights. The price felt fair for what you got…a bed, shower and tv. Having said that, the mattress needs replacing and the shower had no soap in it.”
