"Absolutely lovely property at the very top of a hill overlooking Hilo waterfront. The owners are very friendly and helpful if you need them. Otherwise, you never know they’re there. Perfect get away. Close to everything."
"The Fairmont is likely as good of a “Resort” property as one could find. I am not a fan of Resorts, But when in Hawaii it is difficult to not stay in one. Fairmont is well presented, certainly not a value proposition, but nicely done. Good food, Bars, Pool, etc. shower in the bathtub was far better than the separate shower. Facility does need some paint and refreshing. Grounds and Location are beautiful. I like Fairmont Hotels and they are a brand I seek out, when traveling."
"The place is good, convienient walking location to downtown and grocery. Young crowd. They Dont have AC that was a bit hard. The staff is really great (except one young guy who looked hungover and was rude). pancakes are yum. They keep kitchen clean and good amenities overall. Bathrooms only have shampoo and conditioner no bath soap, so carry your own. The other guests were very friendly and nice. They have community whatsapp group to share updates. Very young crowd so if elderly people in your group it might feel out of place. The place is on 2nd story with lots of stairs so if u have too many bags it will be tough. You have to find street parking and move the car every few hours based on restrictions on the street.. They have a tv in living area so u can see a match or volcano eruption status live."
"We were situated in the older tower, but had a great view of bay. It was more difficult to find and navigate to hotel restaurant due to lack of any signage, and that our more obvious route was outside. Hilo is, after all, the rainiest city on the planet. Took us a wet try, and getting info to "maze" back to the older tower from restaurant staff. We suggest better signage, or info in room. The restaurant staff was okay...clearly overworked and understaffed. Front desk was adequate, but did exude the "Aloha Spirit". The older tower, although clean and sufficient, could use fresh paint, and new carpet in halls. The location and view, and lack of very many alternatives left this hotel as a good, and sufficient choice. Rooms were roomy, and beds/pillows/linen comfy."
"Our 1st evening, we had some problems with getting food. The poolside restaurant had to close early and the bar restaurant ran out of pizza. I’m sure it was an unusual problem, but we didn’t have dinner that night coming in from a long travel day from Texas. All other meals were great, especially breakfast buffet which was outstanding."
"Place was nice. They have lovely four cats and that’s the one of the main reason why we like this place. They also provide all useful gears for guests to use like beach chairs, sunscreen, snorkeling gear, laundry stuffs, etc. The only thing I would like to say is the orange cat’s eyes has some illness issue. There is a lot of discharge in his eyes. We also have cats, and we believe this can be treated. Please take them to doctors if you can. Thanks a lot. We want to come back next year to see the cats again."
