"Near the volcano, which is why we picked it. Reasonable price, near the village and the volcano house. The room was large and fairly clean. The frogs kept us awake, but we got used to them. Very responsive hosts, there is no host at the lodge, but there are plenty of supplies if you run out of towels ..."

Excellent Studio apartment close to Volcano
"A nice, large apartment with a full sized stove/oven and frig (which can get noisy cycling at night). All the amenities of home (except a dishwasher). A large, covered lanai and easy parking. Plus an ecletic bookshelf. Convenient locatino to town and Kilauea. Quiet neighborhood."

It is a quiet, small town in a beautiful spot that exemplifies a different time on Hawaii. That does cut both ways a bit, though, of course, don't come out expecting bright lights and show tunes.
