“A beautiful, well appointed spot. However, there are some issues with the service. The on site gentleman was wonderful. They were in my room fixing the fireplace when I arrived, had to come fix it again, left me just with a sheet when I said I had allergies to down-requiring me to call for a blanket, and did not have the plunges or sauna operational the duration of my stay. To their credit, they worked to get at least the sauna running. However, they only revealed the issue AFTER I booked...

The room was clean and had plenty of open space to move around.The staff were friendly and amazing. They welcomed pets with no pet fees. “Very impersonal. Check in/out is virtual, they were fairly nice, it was hard to understand what they were saying. The shower had dirty footprints and a bottle of soap left in it. One of the washcloths was dirty with what looked like the same dirt from the footprints in the shower. The toilet had a partial strip of paper that should be broken off before the first use by new tenants, but it was just set over the top to make it look like it was cleaned. “They did a great job renovating the Tar Heel motel. Clean, comfortable rooms. Bring K-cups with you if you are a big coffee drinker and don’t pack heavy. This is the best of old school Outer Banks, reminds me of when my parents would take us to OBX in the 70’s staying at the Beacon.”

“We had an ocean front room with the historic wood paneling. It was charming and comfortable. I loved having the ocean access. The only complaint came from my teenage companion. She was surprised at the lack of outlets for charging her many electronic devices. Myself, this was to be expected and I didn't stress over it!
