“Wonderful staff, nice spacious room, lovely terrace and outlook of the hotel. ”

“Our room was upgraded on arrival, and the room was perfect, floor to ceiling windows with a perfect view of the lake. Breakfast was very nice with plenty of choice. The spa was lovely, The only downside was the building work going on outside but they seemed to keep disruption to a minimum”

“I had a wonderful stay at Powter Howe, a real treat. The room and bathroom were immaculately cleaned and well kept and the host is a gem who cooks the best breakfast which includes lovely free range eggs from her own hens. Waking up in the morning to the view over a beautiful garden beyond the lake to Skiddaw was an extra treat as each morning there was a new ever changing Lake District vista. I'll definitely be back! ”

“A lovely clean room with fantastic views. The room and bathroom were massive and it was very quiet. We had a great breakfast and lovely evening dinner at the Pennington. All the staff were brilliant. ”

“The hotel is in the beautiful city of Grasmere. There was limited parking even though online advertised available parking. When I booked online, the family room showed two beds. When we arrived, there was only one. The plumbing was very noisy and the shower was very narrow and hard to use. The bed was not comfortable at all. ”

“Beautiful views of Lake Windermere. Lovely old fashioned hunting lodge. Lovely big room and bathroom with separate shower and bath.Breakfast was chosen from a menu but took quite some time for order to be taken and meal to be served. Cocktails in the bar are a MUST. ”

“Our room, on the first floor, was excellent with lovely views. The food was of a high quality and the service was very good except on one of our three evenings when we were forgotten about and it took at least three complaints to get our meal started. On this occasion we were in the restaurant for about two hours and it took 45 minutes before we got our starter. This was a shame because otherwise everything was perfect.”

“Stayed two nights. Very nice hotel with welcoming staff. Excellent dinner and breakfast. Could have been an even better experience...although a quiet and spacious room, avoid room 19 unless you are aware this room has very little natural light as that is blocked out by structures at the back of the hotel. Little light and no view is not ideal. Advised by staff to book directly with hotel next time if wanting to avoid that sort of misunderstanding!”

“Very average. Overall a nice pub area. Checkin was rushed. No parking nearby and confusing as to which car parks allowed overnight parking. Carpets were filthy and didn't look like they had been hoovered in a week. Breakfast was fine. ”
