"Very traditional Japanese ryokan. Vast majority of guests are Japanese and so is authentic but also a bit weird… that’s to say, it doesn’t cater to foreigners. Can’t decide if the decor is stuck in the 1980s or if this is just Japanese taste. We had one of the fancy rooms with a private lounge and a private bath tub (could fit 2 small people) overlooking the mountain and lake. This was lovely. Public baths were on 3rd floor, but we didn’t use those. Stayed for 2 days, so ate 2 elaborate...

"This is the traditional Japanese onsen hotel The breakfast was great Many Japanese style food along breads, pasta , sausage The onsen is awesome Staff speaks English They have shuttle pick up from jr station and they even drove us to bus station when we requested it "

"We booked the premier garden suite and LOVED it. My partner is Japanese and said it reminded him of his grandmothers house growing up. The room is just a simple/beautiful traditional Japanese style room. Although the garden area could use some sprucing up, it was very nice/relaxing. "The Ryokan is in a very beautiful location but it is a 10min walk in summer for public transport or cheaper eating options, so be prepared to budget in some taxi fares if you do indeed come in summer and don't handle the heat well."

"The staff was very kind and happy to help in any way. They have activities at the Ryokan for guests, we participated in the tea ceremony and the calligraphy class which were both wonderful experiences. We would love to come back and stay for more than one night."
