"A lot of reviews stated the rooms were old and not well cleaned. We had a fully remodeled room in the Ipanema tower - the room was really nice, large, comfortable, and clean. Other reviews also stated check-in was difficult and staff were rude - neither of these were our experience. Check-in was quick and easy, and the staff member assisting us was very helpful and friendly. We also had an excellent dinner at the Luckley Tavern. The only reason I don't give this 5 stars is the Ipanema tower had almost half the elevators out of service. The number of elevators available was probably sufficient for typical traffic, but there was a large volleyball meet at the convention center, and there were certain times when all the teams were trying to use elevators at the same time. This caused huge backups with long lines to get onto an elevator. It was so bad that if you were on a middle floor and needed to go down, each elevator going down was full when it got to the middle level floor and you couldn't get on. Many of us just pressed the up button, were able to enter a mostly empty elevator up to the high floors, and stay in back to the bottom. Again, this only happened a few times during our stay, but when it did there were long delays. But overall the hotel was very nice and I would stay there again."
