“A warm greeting followed by being taken to our room (room 4) which was a large well furnished room on the front of the property. Super quality linen and a comfy bed. We enjoyed a drink outside looking over the Market place. In the evening we ate in the restaurant - booking definitely advisable. “It was really nice to stay in Wagon and Horse. You can feel and enjoy real Yorkshire pub and culture with nice people in York. The room was so clean and the facility was also quite good.(It doesn't have bathtub in my room, but the power of shower was great not to care about the bathtub.) The breakfast was very good and enough to start good morning. It is located near the Clifford tower, and so easy to visit touristic places in York. Highly recommend this hotel and York!”

“Booked here as a stopover on the way to Thoresby hall from Scotland as it was only a short drive off the motorway. We booked bed and breakfast at a very good price and we also had an evening meal. Both meals were great and the room even had an air con unit which was fantastic in the hot weather. The place was great value for money and we will certainly be back, can't thank the staff enough who were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Well done and we hope to be back soon.”

“Overall a lovely stay. Our room was large, clean & comfortable with a balcony overlooking the front garden area. Good to have a fridge in the hot weather. We also appreciated the USB ports & other amenities. Comfortable armchairs & a comfotable bed, although the bedding was a little excessive for the hot weather - easy to remove the top layer though. The lovely bathroom was also a good size with a seperate bath & shower. Our only frustration was the early morning traffic noise - we had to open...

“A lovely inn situated in a peaceful village but very handy for visiting the attractions within York and the North Yorkshire National park. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and our room was very clean and comfortable. We can recommend the food and drinks on offer in the air conditioned restaurant, both on the evening we stayed and for breakfast the following day. Top marks.”

“Authentic and rustic feel. Very conveniently located near to Bootham Bar. Parking included behind the hotel. Room was clean, but small. Breakfast was excellent.”
