"Newly refurbished rooms were really nice, comfortable and well equipped. The hotel is also a bar/pub/restaurant. We ate at the restaurant and the food was decent. There was entertainment in the evening which was loud and we were concerned that it might disturb our sleep, but once back in the room, we couldn’t hear it. There is unrestricted public parking opposite the hotel."

The condition of the room was not great, as we soon discovered the lightning did not work properly and the kettle in the room was dysfunctional (reported) The bathroom was clearly in need of renovation as the flooring which was used to cover the sides of the bathtub was peeling away. "I was going to visit the Brecon Mountain Railway and I needed somewhere close by to stay for the night. Luckily, I chose the Butchers Arms. The room was lovely and clean and the bed very comfortable. The food was filling and tasty and I had breakfast looking across to the start of the Brecon Beacons. The beer was wonderful especially the Butty Bach (little friend in Welsh). "
