Hotel France Louvre

6/10 Okay

"Great location in Marais, convenient to many attractions on foot or via Metro. Great, helpful, English speaking staff. Room photos on-line show light filled, traditional decor. Mine was tiny, a window onto a light shaft, water dripping from shower ceiling with failing plaster and strong mildew smell. Ikea quality, cheap furniture, cracked sink, laminate floor. Good daily housekeeping. No signs or advice about the 15 euro cold breakfast buffet in the sub basement. It's NOT included in the room. Great bakery around the corner, off the plaza to the west. Lounge furniture and carpets are past needing refreshing. Somebody is milking this property. I would not stay here again. No central heat. No AC. It was 90F while I was there. Miserable."

2/10 Terrible

"Our experience was terrible and we left after 2 nights. 1. The process of retrieving the key and entering the building was so complicated. We had to go through so many doors and figure out how to open each door. After flying for 10 hours, it seemed like an impossible task to manage. 2. No Airconditioner and no fans in the apartment. It was so hot and impossible to get any asleep. We asked for fans and they brought us 2 cheap fans. 3. Construction and scaffolding on the entire side of the building next to our windows. The smell of paint and banging on the walls started at 8 am to 5 pm. We couldn’t open our windows because there were men working outside our windows and we felt very unsafe! I can say more but I will stop here. We had booked the apartment for a week but left after 2 nights. We travel a lot and this was the worst experience we ever had. This apartment should have never been rented under these conditions."

Le Petit Beaumarchais Hotel & Spa

"Le Petit Beaumarchais is in an excellent location. Less than 100 steps from the Bastille metro stop. The metro lines can get you anywhere so this is perfect. The hotel is close to the Place de Vosges and Le Marais. My room was very cute and equipped with everything I might need. Modern shower and toilet. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Breakfast has a good assortment of baked goods, cheeses and meats, yogurt etc. The bar, which opens at 5pm, is great for a drink after walking all day and has a light menu. I would definitely stay here again."
