The good: -A large portion of the grounds are beautifully landscaped. -The front desk staff are wonderful overall. -The beds and linens are nice, which is tough to maintain at a beach hotel. The not so good: -This hotel is NOISY: -I expected the road noise from Mission Bay Drive, which was very notable from 7-10pm most nights. What I didn't expect was the noise from the resort staff, -"

"I would NOT recommend staying at Heritage Inn in San Diego. Our experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish. The room was dirty and looked nothing like the photos online. To make matters worse, we actually caught cockroaches on video crawling in our shower, completely unacceptable and honestly disgusting. On top of that, the neighbors were extremely loud, blasting music late into the night. When we called the front office to report it, the gentleman who answered seemed completely uninterested and disregarded our request to contact them again to turn the music down. There was no effort made to address the issue or make our stay more comfortable. Another confusing and frustrating aspect was that the hotel advertises itself as pet-friendly, yet their “golden rule” states that pets cannot be left unattended in the room or you risk being kicked out. I’ve never stayed at a hotel where you weren’t allowed to briefly leave your pet in the room. While I would never leave my pet all day, it would have been nice to step out for an hour to enjoy dinner. I even came prepared with a kennel and a camera for safety and monitoring. They did allow it this one time after I brought up my concern, but it still didn’t feel very pet-friendly in my opinion. Overall, the entire experience was far from what we expected. Between the unsanitary room, cockroaches, noisy neighbors, confusing pet policy, and lack of customer service, we felt uncomfortable and decided to leave early."

"Overall, the hotel property was cleaned. Staff were kind and respectful. The room was cleaned and simple. However, the AC produced an “old” smell, not moldy but like an attic or basement smell. The hotel was located on a very inconvenient one way street that didn’t allow u-turns so many times depending on which highway exit you’re coming from, you had to go around back behind the hotel and around the neighborhood just to get on the right side of the street the hotel sits on to access the hotel. Breakfast was very basic and simple - eggs, sausage or biscuits and gravel or cereal or oatmeal. "
