"Room is not bad. But service has been dropped too much comparing with the last time I visited here. Staff is not that professional now, room service is not properly. I paid for the onsite parking, 49.5gbp per night, but can’t been guaranteed there would be a space reserved for you. But I had to pay for it. And nobody told me I need to pay for it when I was parking, only knew it when checked out. Totally, the management is a bit chaotic, service is not properly as I expected, it’s terrible. I loved this hotel when I stayed here last time. But this time, it was so disappointed. "

"Immaculately clean room and bathroom. Excellent view of the Minster and the river. Helpful,friendly staff. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice to appeal to all tastes. Limited parking but we were lucky to secure a space. Conveniently close to York centre. York is beautiful, historical and fascinating. "

"Jacuzzi was out of service but there was no mention of this by the staff or any signage, shower gel in bathroom was empty, bin in room hadn't been emptied, pillows were very uncomfortable but other than that our overall stay was ok, especially for the price we paid for the room."

"The property welcomed pets however, there was no pet kit for the 25 pounds/day we paid. Also, there was zero flexibility for checking in earlier. Amenities partially closed during our stay, or so busy it required reservations. The shower was moldy. We were told the fridge wasn't even a room feature, when we informed them it was not working (weird, because it was plugged in, producing heat outwards). The room we got faced an alley and we got early morning noises and banging of trash bins being emptied out. All in all for such a pricy place, it wasn't really up to standards for us in terms of basic features, cleanliness and quietness. "

"Stayed in Apartment 4 well furnished to a good std, and very clean and secure. Good area to stay near to main tourist area only 5mins from Shambles etc Plenty of eating choices nearby and bars. One negative issue was the bed which was very uncomfortable and past it's best for sleeping on. I consider bed comfort a high priority as it can impact your stay. Hotel need to look at this. "

"Standard of Housekeeping cleanliness in bathrooms well below par. Handling of complaints abysmal. Your duty manager appears to believe that because the rooms are ‘old’ customers should accept mould, scaling & improperly cleaned toilet. They did change rooms, 2nd room frankly not much improved with similar issues plus someone else’s hair on the shower wall. I asked the receptionist for compensation, refund of 1st night should have been offered as they couldn’t move my room - or clean it to an acceptable standard, and a 2nd free night as compensation for that & for the room key not working. She told me that they can’t do refunds as I booked online. She did offer me a free breakfast, which I didn’t want & which was not anppropriate compensation for the state of the bathroom. I asked her to refer my complaint to Hotel Manager. They did not acknowledge or do anything about it. Whether she couldn’t be bothered to flag my complaint or the Manager couldn’t be bothered to address it I don’t know. Neither is acceptable. Appalling service. Asked for compensation"
