"The Breakfast was included and was really excellent (good choices, fresh good quality ingredients, well presented etc.), and the free off-road parking at the rear was convenient.
We stayed in the cottage which is nicely presented, and good value. The only minor issues were the tv remote didn’t work (probably just batteries), the bathroom is a bit tired (toilet hard to flush, mold around the bath), but the shower and overall facilities were good enough.
Overall, a comfortable good value stay."

"We stayed at The Grand last weekend for 2 nights and absolutely loved it. The location is fantastic, right next to the York wall and only a 5-minute walk into the town centre.
The hotel staff were so welcoming, and the doormen in particular were incredibly friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. We parked in the NCP car park just around the corner, which was really convenient.
Although the pool was closed for renovation (something we were aware of when booking), our stay was still perfect. The rooms have been beautifully renovated, everything felt super clean and fresh, and the overall atmosphere was lovely. If you fancy any treatments / massages I do recommend pre booking before you arrive as all slots were fully booked when we tried to book on arrival. Popular option!
On Friday evening, we had dinner at their restaurant The Rise. We ordered the sharing platter of beef Wellington and lobster, paired with a delicious bottle of red wine, absolutely amazing! There was also live music in the lounge/bar on both Friday and Saturday night, which added to the experience.
The only downside was breakfast – at £30 per head it felt quite steep, so instead we ate out in town each morning at a lovely little café called Rise.Brunch, which we really enjoyed.
I’ll definitely be staying here again on our next trip to York and can’t wait to check out the new spa and pool facilities once they’re open. :)"

The staff are so friendly and will do anything g they can to help. the rooms have recently been refurbished and they are really beautiful, to think this hotel room is as the same price as the premier inn, it’s really a no brainer! "Only stayed the one night but the staff were very friendly and efficient, they helped us check baggage before and after check out so they were could explore the city without carting around unnecessary luggage. The room itself was clean and nice decorated, the bed was perhaps a little on the soft side which may be an issue for some but we found it perfectly fine. The shower was great and the room temperature controlled was fantastic given it was quite a warm sticky day outside and I've seen other hotels in the area resort to loud portable Aircon units in an effort to keep the rooms at an acceptable level but here the integrated air was efficient and quiet. Overall a very enjoyable, if quick stay, that I would be happy to do again. "
"The lobby of the hotel was great, everything is on one floor so handy if you're disabled. None of those tiny flights of stairs. Swimming pool was fantastic. There's a great kids play room in the lobby which is handy if you want a drink and the kids to entertain themselves. The room was modern and comfortable. My only complaint is that in terms of window the whole room just had one tiny window but a pretty minor complaint. The bathroom was clean and comfortable with good hot water pressure. I would definitely come back."
