"The Empire has a stellar location near Columbus Circle and the Lincoln Center for ballet, opera and jazz at the Lincoln Center and the staff id very good and friendly. However it needs a serious infusion of cash to do some very deferred maintenance. The room we were in which was supposedly deluxe had frayed carpets, torn wallpaper and sub par bathroom facilities. I am never a proponent of corporations taking over mom and pop or private businesses but this hotel needs to be saved by a Marriott or Hilton and get a complete overhaul. It's a shame to let a location like this not live to it's full potential."

"Room was clean, but needed updating. We paid extra for a balcony, but there were no chairs, so we did not get our money’s worth. If you want an upgrade, go for another suite option. Location cannot be beat, so overall the rating is good. We walked to theaters and nightclub. We could not get into the rum house because we did not have a reservation. The hotel breakfast at Friedman’s was a limited menu, but all was very good. French toast was outstanding. You need reservations for breakfast at Friedman’s also, especially in weekends. "

"Absolutely terrible hotel. After my flight got cancelled I booked this hotel and received a confirmation code. At the hotel there was no receptionist and when I called hotel customer service they said their are no rooms available. What is the purpose of a confirmation code if the room isn’t confirmed ?? There were 4 other people at the lobby in a similar situation as me never experienced anything like this before."

"Room was very spacious, perfect for the solo traveller looking for some personal space. Bed was comfortable and cozy, i felt like a squirrel sleeping on a nice cabin during a snowstorm. Everything was kept well cleaned, and front desk staff were friendly, funny, and always willing to help! Will 100% come for my next NYC stay."

"Zero amenities, not even soap to wash your hands. Incredibly rude and unhelpful staff with the manager nowhere to be found (we checked if they were there every morning 4 days in a row and somehow each time they weren’t). Mysterious stains on the walls. Bedbugs found in the bed and they did not offer to switch our room NOR give us a refund for the rest of our stay. People outside blared incredibly loud music every single night 11p-5a so we could not sleep either. We ended up just getting another hotel. Will never be coming back to this hotel and I plan on emailing the manager about my experience, it is ridiculous that they did not offer a refund or any help. The Residence Inn around the corner that we switched to was amazing so if the location is important to you, stay there!"
