The Milner York

8/10 Good

"This hotel is beautiful. We originally booked a standard room which was tiny and had the most uncomfortable bed. The toilet was so close to the door the toilet roll holder was jammed to your leg and we are fairly average sized people. We decided to upgrade for the 2nd night and got a King deluxe which was amazing with a favourite roll top bath and separate shower. Much more spacious and the bed was firm but much better than the previous bed. Unfortunately the A/C wasn't working and made a regular weird noise but that didn't spoil our stay. The cream tea in The Garden Room was the best one we had in York. Delicious. Overall I would recommend but don't stay in a standard room as they are tiny!"

Moxy York

"I had a great stay at the Moxy York. The property is modern, creative, design-forward, and very clean. For those who prefer a more modern, contemporary hotel while visiting a historic city like York, this is a great choice. The location is excellent, right on the edge of the main old town. It is close enough to easily walk into the historic center, but just removed enough that it felt quiet at night with very little traffic. It is also next door to a very old historic pub, which ended up being a great bonus. The reception staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the free cocktail at check-in was a fun touch. My room was spacious, comfortable, and very clean, with a nice bathroom and plenty of space to settle in. The lobby is also fantastic. It is large, stylish, and full of different seating areas, whether you want to work, relax, or sit with a small group. It made the hotel feel very easy and comfortable to spend time in. The only small note is that the entrance/location can be a little awkward for Uber drop-offs and pickups. Drivers may stop slightly down the street, but there is a small pull-in area nearby that works well once you know where it is. Overall, this was a great hotel in a great area. I would absolutely stay here again. Wish I had stayed longer in York. So much to explore."

Hampton by Hilton York

10/10 Excellent

"Another superb stay at the Hampton by Hilton. Allocated room 517 on top floor with no rooms either side so extremely quiet. AC worked perfectly and was essential for comfort with minimal noise at night. The breakfasts were excellent as usual with pleasant efficiency staff in full control of the busy dining area. Waffles were to die for. Be mindful that parking is at the near by NCP carpark where charges are now £40 per day. However luckily the hotel has managed to secure a discount to a final daily charge of £25 per day. It’s a shame that with the excessive carpark charge and the pending city tax this hotel will soon be beyond our means. Great hotel with courteous staff and reasonably close to thd city."
