"My friend and I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Financial District to celebrate our birthdays with a visit to Governors Island. I chose this hotel, because searches told me that it was one of the closest to the ferry. Absolutely true! When we checked into our room and took a look out of the window, we could see the ferry station, basically across the street and about a block over. It was perfect! We took a taxi to get to the hotel, but decided to take the subway back to Penn Station when we departed. The 1 train subway station is even closer to this hotel. For our Governors Island visit, staying at this hiotel location was such a blessing.
The room was clean and spacious enough,...larger than the infamously small rooms in a lot of NYC hotels. Everything was in great condition and worked as expected.
The staff was friendly and very helpful. One of the front desk agents was the one that informed us about the 1 triain being so nearby. When we first arrived, the room I had chosen wasn't ready, but the front desk agent found another available room without issue, so that we could check-in early, put our bags away and make our ferry to the island. We were very grateful.
Check-in was easy. The security deposit was $50 per night. Very stress-free process.
After we returned from Governors Island, we were very tired and hungry. we checked on the menu at the restaurant on the 2nd Floor and decided to irder room service. Food came quickly and was good! It was a great stay!!!"
