The National Museum of Indonesia dates back to 1862 and houses a collection of approximately 140,000 objects. The structure is considered to be one of Jakarta’s best examples of neoclassical architecture. In 2007, a second hall was added, allowing more of the museum’s extensive collection to be enjoyed. The building lies close to the imposing National Monument, and is known locally as the Elephant Museum because of the giant bronze sculpture that stands in the courtyard.

Step inside the original part of the museum, the Gajah (Elephant) building, and you will find various exhibitions documenting Dutch colonization in Indonesia. Pieces obtained through military and scientific expeditions shed light on the years of foreign rule and its impact. Be sure to take a walk through the open courtyard to see an amazing selection of statues. Pride of place is a 15-foot (4.5-meter) stone work of a Bhairawa king from Sumatra walking on human skulls.

Learn about the first humans to live in Indonesia when you head to the Arca building. Here you can explore several floors of detailed exhibits showing how Indonesia evolved in pre-historical times. Don’t miss the model of Flores Hobbit, a reconstruction of what scientists think an ancient human species looked like. The average individual stood at just 3.5 feet (1 meter) tall.

The National Museum of Indonesia is located close to the center of Jakarta. The Monas Busway is just a short walk away. Free guided tours in English are run by the Indonesia Heritage Society and take place throughout the week. These tours can also be organized privately.

I liked it a lot -- the only thing I didn't like was the food lol. It was hella mid for the price but there's a food court that's walking distance so dont worry about that. The only thing I would note is that taxis may find the location hard to get to. Other than that, pretty good hotel. The room was cozy and it even had a balcony (which I didn't make use of bc its so hot in Indonesia but I liked that it was there). There was also a kettle which I was NOT expecting. I really appreciate that they put a prayer rug in my room, too. I'll probably state here again when I'm in Jakarta again (next year)

House of Tugu is the latest hotel from the Tugu Group, which I have frequented many times. This one is truly the masterpiece... the decor and mood is otherworldly. The room is spacious and very comfy. Breakfast was amazing and I really like their coffee. Service is something that all Tugu hotels share, always warm, genuine, and caring. To me, this is the perfect weekend getaway hotel.

Der Aufenthalt bei Pan Pacific Jakarta bewerte ich mit 9/10. Tolle Aussichten (250m hoch), außerordentlich gutes Bett, und der beste Service. Ich habe die Suite zu einem speziellen Anlass gebucht. Das Team war daran sehr aufmerksam, meine genauen Wünsche und die jeglichen Kleinigkeiten zu erfüllen. Der Upgrade (was mehrmals gekostet hätte) war der cherry on top. Wir haben das Upgrade von Junior Suite auf Premier Suite bekommen. Doch ohne den Upgrade bieten die noch ein sehr gutes Preis-Leistung-Verhältnis. Schmutz oder Dreck findet man hier keine. Für ein besonderes Set-Up waren sie auch sehr hilfreich. Die Mitarbeiter erkennen und erinnern deinen Namen und Präferenzen auch. Frühstück war toll. Gute Getränke, und es gab Kaffee zum mitnehmen. Es darf sonst noch mehr los gewesen sein, wenn man lieber im Haus bleibt. Vielleicht Live Musik, etwas im Wellness Bereich, oder mehr Angebote bei F&B. Doch sind die kein Deal-Breaker. Wie ich verstehe, ist das Hotel neu gebaut. Sie arbeiten noch daran, die Einrichtungen und Kleinigkeiten immer noch zu verbessern. Ich hätte gewünscht, dass die Fenster und äußeren Bauteile sauberer wären. Ansonsten war alles aus meiner Ansicht gut gefertigt. Gerne empfohlen 👍 es gab zwar kleine Sachen, aber man wird nicht enttäuscht werden. Nach Zeit wird es nur besser, und ich freue mich bereits auf den nächsten Aufenthalt.
